Podbila consists of several helmets in the municipality of Posušje, nearby the Bosnian and Herzegovinian and Croatian border. The most interesting is Čemera helmet (its name origins from the word čemer which means bitterness, sorrow, misery). The area has got great rural tourism resources and there is a strong wish to develop village tourism among the local people led by Milan Budimir. The area has got rich history and archaeological remains reflecting the Stone Age, the Roman Period and the Middle Ages. This is an agricultural region where the native people offer their products grown and produced in pristine nature. In summer, when many people come to visit their birth place, there are many traditional culture festivals organised. The whole region echoes with the voices of ganga singers and the sounds of a traditional instrument gusle.

Christianity in the Middle Ages

Thanks to the existing historical records it is possible to reconstruct the religious pattern of the Hum Land area. The Roman Catholic population was dominant in the west, middle and coastal area of Herzegovina while there was a significant number of Eastern Orthodox population in the area of karst fields and plateaus of High Herzegovina to the east of the middle part of the river Neretva towards the region of Podrinje which was under Serbian rulers for a longer period of time. In the part of Podrinje next to the border with Bosnia and in the area of Upper Neretva there was a significant number of adherents of the Bosnian Church.
