horse carriage rides; tour of Ravlića Cave; Tihaljina river source

In the 90s of the last century, Srećko decided to return to his ancestral land Herzegovina from faraway Slavonija struck by war at that time, thus being a refugee and a returnee at the same time.  On the inherited land he built up an outstanding farm with barns full of different animals (horses, cows, pigs and sheep). He and his family will host you in the tavern with homemade drinks and dishes in the same way they meet their relatives and friends offering wine and brandy, meat and dairy products from their farm. If you have more time, you can take a ride in a horse carriage all the way to Ravlića Cave, the Neolithic archaeological site and to the source of the river Tihaljina – Peć Mlini.

Peasants’ Position in the Middle Ages

Difficult position of peasants who lived on the rented feudal land is evident from the facts that many of them ran away from the feudal properties and coercive measures had to be introduced in order to prevent peasants from deserting the land. In critical situations, often imposed by political circumstances and feudal relationships, peasants’ revolts were also common. In 1451, the citizens of Dubrovnik wanted to attract the Bosnian king and the Croatian – Dalmatian ban into their alliance against Herceg Stjepan. They wrote to their representatives that little effort would be needed to force the Herceg away from the Neretva River and Hum Land since due to his maltreatment of peasants it would be easy to lead them into a rebellion against him.
