Nobility Life in the Middle Ages
The leading noblemen tried to imitate the ruler in every way. They gathered respectable people and relatives around themselves and they lived on big estates resembling the royal ones. Highly positioned nobility holding the title of seniors promised protection to their vassals and they gave them a small part of land called feud in return for their lifelong service. Petty nobility known as “vlastelčići” had fewer estates and they did not have high income.
