The house of the Seratlić family is situated in the village of Zabrđe, on the northern rim of the Luštica Peninsula. In the ambience of a family home, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the Boka Bay (and parts of the towns of Tivat and Herceg Novi), and for all gourmets and lovers of local specialties in charge is the cuisine of Mrs. Štefica Seratlić. The tradition of this family is production of homemade smoked meat products such as ham, pork loin (Luštica longe), bacon, diverse sausages and other smoked meat products that are characteristic only for this area. The specialty called “bumbari” – dry sausages stuffed with corn flour and spices, represents an old dish that is prepared in the Boka Bay.
You can find out from the hosts how people used to breed a large number of cattle, and that the people from Zabrđe had a “deal“ with the locals from Kumbor, a settlement located right across the sea, and would call each other if they noticed stray herds.
If you visit this household, you will be able to learn about the process of production of smoked meat - from livestock breeding to drying meat in a drying hut on the property. Do not forget to ask Mrs. Štefica about old Luštica prosciutto and how it used to be made. In addition to dried meat products, this family is widely known for the production of various types of authentic cheeses made of fresh cow milk. From this range of products, very distinct is Luštica cheese, cottage cheese and cheese kept in olive oil. The north-eastern wind – a dry and salty wind from the north which brings salt and iodine in the air, is responsible for the special taste of the local products.
With a fantastic view of the Bay and an afternoon maestral breeze, tasting various types of meat and cheese, with a glass of wine or brandy, is a perfect way to spend a relaxed afternoon away from the city hustle and bustle.
